Silver maple is a large tree that often grows along waterways. It grows well in moist soils but can tolerate a variety of soil conditions, including alkaline or acidic soils. Silver maples prefer full sun and grows quickly. It is not advised to plant this tree near structures as their branches are prone to breakage. This tree is used for nesting by birds and small mammals. They produce winged seeds that “helicopter” through the wind.

Silver maple is often planted to provide shade due to its large canopy and late-season leaf drop.
