Cedar, White

$45.00

Thuja occidentalis

White cedar is a medium size tree. It is slow growing but extremely long lived. White cedar is found on a wide range of sites, from swamps to rocky cliffs. It is very shade tolerant. It has very few insect or disease issues, but it is a favorite winter food for deer, and young trees need to be protected.

White cedar is often planted for landscaping, wildlife habitat, and timber. It forms a dense hedge or windbreak and provides good winter cover for wildlife. The timber is hard and rot resistant.
